A new series about late Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is in the works, and a prominent comedian is set to take the lead.
As reported Tuesday by Variety, the American network AMC will air the dark comedy series about Ford’s rise and fall as Toronto councillor and mayor of Canada’s largest city.
Stand-up comedian Jim Gaffigan has reportedly been recruited to portray Ford in the series, which will be written and executive-produced by Toronto-born writer Jesse McKeown.
Daily Show alum Ed Helms and Mike Falbo will also executive produce under their Pacific Electric Picture Co., joined by FUBAR producer Michael Dowse, who will also direct.
No timeline on production has been released.
