A midtown Toronto daycare servicing children of essential workers has closed after staff members tested positive for COVID-19.
City officials have suspended operations at the Jesse Ketchum Early Learning and Child Care Centre on Berryman St., near Avenue and Davenport Rds., after three staff members became ill with the potentially deadly respiratory disease Tuesday.
Test results are still pending for two other staff members and two children.
The facility, one of seven allowed to remain open to provide child care for emergency and essential front-line workers, will be shuttered for two weeks and will undergo a deep cleaning.
It will remain closed until approval is granted from Toronto Public Health.
Both staff and the 58 children who attended the centre between April 21 to 28 are being asked to self-isolate for 14 days.
