Police have released “terrifying footage” of a Tesco Express store being robbed at gunpoint by a man wearing a white face mask.

CCTV images show him walking into the store in Shoreham, West Sussex, at just before 6.30am last Friday, carrying a silver handgun as he approaches a member of staff.

The employee is then seen being led through a door towards a till, before opening the cash register and putting both hands in the air.

The suspect, still holding the weapon, then grabs a handful of cash and walks out.

Detective Sergeant Andy Ricks, of Sussex Police, said: “This was a terrifying incident and we are seeking the public’s help in identifying the man in the CCTV.

“I am hoping that someone may recognise the distinctive beanie hat or the green jacket worn by the suspect.

“If you can help us in any way with our inquiries, please report online or call 101 quoting Operation Stafford.”

Two men, aged 30 and 38, from Shoreham, have been released on bail until 12 June after being arrested on suspicion of robbery.
